Russ Weinhold Scholarship Application

The Russell Weinhold Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of Russell Weinhold who was an involved member of ACTS since its establishment in 1986. Russ was a faithful tutor and mentor who exemplified the servanthood of Christ in spending quality time with his tutee not only in the program but outside the program as well. In his last days, Russ delighted in telling the story of fishing with Francisco, age 11. They waited and waited for a trout to bite. Russ caught one but it got away. They moved downstream where Francisco, with great glee, caught six big ones that he brought home and cooked for his family. Francisco said, “My tutor taught me how to fish for the first time, and I also learned how to control my anger.”

The Russell Weinhold Scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has graduated from high school and has been accepted into an institution of higher learning, and who has been a part of the ACTS program, either as a tutor or as a tutee, for at least two years. The amount awarded will be determined in part by the funds available and the number of qualified applicants.

Interested individuals should complete an application and submit it, along with a cover letter, documenting their qualifications for the award.

If you would like to contribute to the Russell Weinhold Scholarship Fund, please send your gift to ACTS, 35 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01103, clearly marked for the scholarship fund. Contributions of any amount are greatly appreciated
